Communication & Engagement Best Practices for Teachers and School Leaders During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Without a doubt, today’s educational landscape looks different than ever before. Since March 2020, schools throughout the nation have been operating under the umbrella of a global pandemic and are learning to provide instruction and support to families in new and creative ways. While effective and timely school-to-home communication has always been a priority, engaging with children and parents has never been more important—or challenging.

To help educators connect with students, parents and guardians during these unprecedented times—and beyond—this two-hour program will explore setting and managing expectations for both educators and parents, share tips for communicating during remote learning, and discuss tools and tactics for effective engagement. Time will be allotted to share experiences and explore scenarios.

This course is free to all Capital Region BOCES component school districts and districts that subscribe to the Capital Region BOCES Core Communications Service.

All others: $75 per registrant ($60 when 10 or more individuals are registered from the same district)

The two-hour course will be offered in a virtual environment and the link will be e-mailed to all registrants the day before.
